Goal of Compliance: The goal of the NATM Compliance Verification Program is to ensure trailer manufacturers are producing trailers in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

FMVSS is U.S. federal regulations specifying design, construction, performance, and durability requirements for motor vehicles and regulated safety-related components, systems, design features and industry best practices.

Not all trailers are created equal! Consumers may assume that all trailers comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Unfortunately this is not always the case. However, NATM members are required to verify compliance with FMVSS. (However, NATM members are required as a tenant of membership to success-fully complete a compliance verification consulta-tion based on FMVSS standards and industry best practices.)
