Analyse. Prove. How ISO 26262 provides a solution space for functional safety experts. Interview with Dave Higham, Delphi Powertrain Systems, UK Dave Higham is Head of Functional Safety at Delphi Powertrain Systems, UK. During this year’s 5 th International Conference ISO 26262 in Berlin, Automotive IQ met with Mr. Higham to discuss how to approach functional safety within the framework of the ISO 26262 standard as well as its meaning for customer relations. Mr. Higham, what is your role at Delphi and how are you involved with ISO 26262? I work in the Powertrain Systems division, but I’m also involved with the alignment of functional safety practices to ISO 26262 across company wide. I run a cross-divisional steering team looking at best practice, process, organizational frameworks, competence of frameworks, training, and so on. At the higher level the idea is to get a network of collaboration so we can cascade it down into the organization but also promote the evolution of best practices from the project team, across every division, so every division can learn from each other. And you’re also a member of the ISO committee, right? How long have you been doing that? Yes, I started off at the UK level in 2008. I’ve been on the international committee for 2 years. I think most people in the industry are curious to find out about the second edition of the Standard which is expected to be finalized within the next three years.
