The Greece Chamber offers a lot of opportunities to its membership.” It is not hard to see that Paul is sold on Chamber networking. He is a member of five different area Chambers. BUSINESS MATTERS

In September, the Greece Chamber of Commerce will belaunching an exciting and innovative new program called“Leadership Greece.” The program is a 9 month communityleadership program modeled on similar programs across thecountry. With a community of 93,000 residents andthousands of businesses, we believe this program willbecome an important part of our area. We’re looking to attract a variety of people to fill the class. There are leaders all over our community from Little Leaguecoaches and small business owners to those serving on non-profit Boards or teams in the workplace. The MissionStatement for the program is to ensure that new, emergingand established leaders gain a thorough understanding of theGreece community and are equipped to serve in a variety ofleadership positions. Enrollees will attend class one day permonth (the 2nd Friday) on a variety of community andleadership related topics. Graduates of the program will notonly gain important information to be used in theirprofession, they will be more qualified to serve on local non-profit boards and other community organizations.Topics to be covered in the community portion include anexploration of how local government works, the educationalsystem in our area, health & human services and their impacton the community, arts/culture and recreation, local mediaand more. Also included will be a tour of Greece that willhighlight both the history of the area and some “hiddengems” of the area. The tour is designed to better acquaintparticipants with all that the Greece area has to offer.

The leadership development piece will be modeled on thebook The Leadership Challenge by James Kouzes and BarryPosner. A facilitator will work with the class to help themgain a more thorough understanding of the five practices ofexemplary leadership outlined in the book. Those practicesare: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge theProcess, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart.A steering committee of local leaders is helping to plan thefirst year of events. We have a great group of leadersplanning our year. They have really helped to make this awell-rounded program.Tuition for the program is $499 and covers the cost allleadership training materials, meals/snacks for class days, name tag, class binder, transportation costs for tour, leadership training, and the graduation luncheon. Costs aretypically underwritten by the employer though a smallamount of scholarships will be offered based on need. Those interested in applying to be part of the inaugural classshould contact me at 227-7272 or via email [email protected]. An informational brochure andapplication can be found on the Chamber website,www.greecechamber.org.

MISSION STATEMENTTo Enhance the Business and Economic Vitality of the Greece Community

The Greece Chamber of Commerce does everythingpossible to connect our members through networkingopportunities, programs, committees, trade shows, and more. Connecting our members helps to

The Greece Chamber offers a lotof opportunities to its membership.” It is not hard to see thatPaul is sold on Chamber networking. He is a member of fivedifferent area Chambers. Paul donated his time and DJ serviceslast year to the 1st Annual “Race on the Ridge”.
