Car & Driver’s Top 10 Cars of 2010

This year, Car & Driver for the 28th running their annual 10 Best competition, changed up the rules a bit. First, the price cap was raised from $71,000 to $80,000 (roughly three times the average transaction price of a new car) in the belief that 80 grand is the current point of automotive excellence’s diminishing returns. More important, raising the cap makes eligible nominees in two other vital categories: luxo-sport GTs and luxury sedans.

Second rule: Invited back were 2009’s 10 Best winners and all the new or significantly altered cars for 2010.

In all, a total of 58 automobiles were researched, and the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid made the Top 10 list.
