Driving?
Vehicles' health check is crucial to create a safe driving environment around you.
The vehicle owners always focus on servicing of oil filter or checking tire pressure etc. But they overlook the most important
part of safety "headlights"
Headlights are the most important part of vehicles that
illuminate the road and tunnels in the dark night.
The continuous exposer to headlights to sun's UV rays, road grits,
dusts and debris can really affect the headlights.
The headlights become cloudy and reduce the focus of light they project on the road.
The timely maintenance of headlights can reduce the risk of road mishaps.
Here are some checklists to keep the headlight in
top condition.
Faulty Headlight Allignment :-
If the lights are not aligned correctly, the light beams will be short and dull.
Bulb quality :-
If the bulb is getting dimmer then make sure to change it to an
upgraded maximum performance bulb. That will generate extra
light and longer beam on the road.
Matched color of headlights :-
The headlights should produce same brightness and color. If it varies, make sure to change them in pairs.
Cloudy lenses :-
Due to regular wear and tear, debris and UV exposure, the
lenses of headlight become foggy or yellowish.
Servicing Life Of Bulb :-
The life span of bulb depends on different factors
:-how often they are used
:-the road condition etc..
Tips For Safe Night Driving
Aim the headlights correctly :- Sometimes the headlights are uneven and points lower.
Also, the uneven lights can cast a dim glow if something blocking inside or outside of the headlight.
Dim the instrument panel and dashboard :-
The dashboard lights can block the forward vision in the night time.
So to get a safe night drive, you should dim the
dashboard panel that produces glare.
Wearing wrong glasses:
As per DMV, The wrong glass selection for night drive also affects the safety of vehicle users.
Always use a prescribed anti-reflective coating glass,which prevents the lights from bouncing around
your lenses.
Avoid oncoming traffic lights :-
The oncoming traffic light creates a distraction to eyes at night time.
If you are used to dim glow light combination, then it won't
be a problem. But make sure to look away if you are
getting distracted from the road.
Proper cleaning of Windshield :-
The cleaned windshield also contains debris that only can be seen in night time when it
causes glare from light reflection.
Addion of high-beam lights :-
Adding the new high-beam lights to the vehicle will give a better view of the road.
