DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the London Lorry Control Scheme survey was to gauge hauliers understanding of the scheme and how it affects HGV drivers in London. More than 100 hauliers responded to the survey sharing their experiences and opinions. The London Lorry Control Scheme is run by London Councils to control congestion and noise pollution at night time and the weekends. According to the study, 70% of hauliers surveyed plan their journeys to avoid driving in London at night and weekends, lending weight to the scheme’s nickname, ‘The London Lorry Ban’. In fact it is still possible to drive in London at night, hauliers simply need to approve their routes in advance by submitting them manually to London Councils or via the automated London Lorry Route Approver service.
