Lighting

The fact this scene is so basic with only a birthday cake and a little girl in shot shows a lot. This helps to create emotion. The fact the back ground is black shows a sense of being lost and

disappearing into the darkness. Although the candles make it inviting

due to warm lighting. Also it is building up to the

The hospital scene uses a lot of green lighting to show that she is in a critical condition. Also the green makes it look like she is in a dream. The fact her background is blacked out also shows that something bad has happened.

The fact it goes grey shows that she has returned to the real world out of a dream due to the world being boring.

LocationThe hospital is designed to look dirty and grimy to show how

emotional she is. Also the green helps it look like she is yet to

reach the real world.

The busy hospital corridor helps to show realization and also how she is in the real world due to other people being around her.

The location of the birthday cake scene is unknown which causes a sense of mystery.

Costume

The hospital gown shows that she has been in an accident due to the

fact not everyone is given a hospital gown upon entry.

The way that everyone is dressed in all black show mourning and also like the grim reaper.

Props

The birthday cake shows wishes and innocence. This is used to show that the little girl is never going to share

her birthday with her mom.

The heart monitor creates tension due to the beeping then it suddenly cutting out shows upset.

Sound

Sound in this scene is very low key due to it mostly being mostly heavy breathing and machine beeping sounds. The heavy breathing shows panic and utter delusion due to her realising her husband and child has died and she is left.
