• The time frame must be discussed clearly. • Most of the freelancers are not working full time since they have a regular full time job.  

• Planning is very important, the employer must discuss with the contractor what he work he or she requires, in addition to what output he needs in his bookkeeping project. 

What are some guidelines and/or best practices that will ensure project success? 

• Good communication is the key to make the outsourcing job work. 

• Guidelines vary with different employers and the type of work can vary since some of the employers have different guidelines they need to follow. 

• Employers must give the information and documents needed to avoid delays in work. Updates are done after work every day.

What are the most common risks involved with outsourcing projects related to your area of expertise? 

• Confidentiality – Any financial transaction must be treated confidential. A freelancer should not just post your financial standing on any website or disclose it to anyone.

What are common milestones or project phases in this area of outsourced work? 

• Time frame of the project should be stressed properly. Time is the major key to make any project successful.

• Any updates should be done daily unless the employer decided to have a specific time for the updates. It is the discretion of the employers as to when he or she needs the documents. Tax issues may vary depending on its kind. It is done monthly, quarterly or annually. The Bookkeeper must take note of all deadlines and ask for the documents needed.

What are three fundamental errors that can result in project failure on the employer’s behalf? 

• They should always be open and offer help and suggestions on how the work can be made faster and more efficient.

• Understand every situation. • Never give bad feedback to your contractor. • Facebook and unnecessary browsing during working hours. • Never disclose confidential information about your work. • Never think about money when you work online. 

What project related details should an employer provide to successfully complete the project? 

• Time frame and expected output. • Documents should be provided at the start of a project, other documents may be provided at allotted times during the project and some may be shared online at different times also. 

• The employee must know the regulations in employers’ country before working the job.

An employer should not post a project in this area if he has not considered what three fundamental questions? 

• Using online accounting system, the employer can check the work of his employee from time to time. He can just keep documents on a shared folder online.

• There are a lot of skilled workers looking for one with good feedback in bookkeeping projects, the number of years in bookkeeping and a proper education in accounting.
