The majority of candidates (53 percent) claim some relationship at the outset. There is a clear initial positive pre-disposition toward the employer, which suggests that positive association is ultimately the employers’ to lose. A significant portion (47 percent) is left to be ‘engaged’ with content relevant to the prospect’s decision to become a candidate.

Referred Job Candidates

Only 17.6 percent of candidates indicated they were aware of and used employees within a company to become their “referral.” Of those who claimed to have been referred to the organization, nearly one-third said they received and accepted job offers. Of the participating individuals, referred candidates were four times more likely than non-referred candidates to receive an offer.

Just one-third said they ask candidates for feedback if not advanced to the final evaluation phase. The vast majority (90.5 percent) of candidates said they were not asked to provide any feedback once notified they were no longer being considered.
