Read the Instruction Manual 

There’s some really good information in there! And it’ll tell you EXACTLY how to install your seat – rear-facing, forward-facing, using LATCH, and using your car’s seat belts. If you ever have questions about weight and height restrictions – it’s in there, too.

Get Your Seat Checked 

I think everyone should do this, but especially if you’re not sure you installed it correctly.

Use the Harness Straps and Chest Clip Correctly

The straps need to be tight and the chest clip needs to be level with your child’s armpit. In addition, make sure you’re using the correct slot on your seat for the harness straps.

Don’t Use Your Car Seat with a Coat 

As much as we want to keep them warm – coats interfere with the ability of the straps to get a tight fit. Potentially, your child could be ejected from their car seat because there’s space between their body and the straps.
