Project Goals

• 2.5Kw-DIGITAL UHF transmitter – CH66, solid state configuration system using the Digital Mask Filter as a Channel combiner;

• 10Kw-ANALOG UHF transmitter –CH52, combined amplification using the same antenna system as for digital transmitter;

• Line optimized (VSWR better than 1.08), good insulation between the combined paths (more than 60dB). Patching system for the Mask Filter-Channel combiners and the test loads;

• Using a CIBF combining system design, as a Digital Mask Filter and as a Channel combiner.

• System design is up gradable to 2 or 3 more transmitters-limitation only on the antenna system power capability;

• Design the system for installation into a room with ceiling restrictions, existing equipment, air ducting, and new HVAC Units;

RF system design

• The 2.5KW _UHF –CH66, Solid State air cooled:• Using 1-5/8” line; • Digital Mask Filter as per Canada Industry standard, used as a channel

combiner for the Analog transmitter; • RF design for the UHF band; • 2 digital exciters main-stand-by configuration;

• The 10KW_UHF –CH52, Solid state, Teracom Diplexer, air cooled:

• 1-5/8” for aural and visual before combining;• 3-1/8” for combined (aural +visual on TERACOM Diplexer);• 2 Exciters configuration, with a Traplexer (incl. 3.58 Traps and aural

cavities);

• The key factors for design where: • max line avg. power, • VSWR derating, • max. peak power for the line due to the combination of the 2 and/or

more transmitters into the same transmission line (4-1/16”line flanged), • insertion loss contribution to final power at the gas barrier and space

limitations. • Using the same test load for both channels and ability of patching any

transmitter into the test load or direct to the antenna.

• Power supply electrical designed for both transmitters with reduced power operation on generator;

Submission of the proposal for the CH66 and CH52transmitters

• The RF diagram showing the modes of operation of the system;

• The material list count: lines, elbows, couplings, reducers, coaxial switches, probe sections;

• Electrical Diagram design for the 208/120VAC service (breaker size, surge protection, voltage regulation), and reduced power operation on voltage generator;

• Cooling systems design approval with the LARCAN requirements;

• Preliminary installation drawings issued by Application Engineering Dept.
