ThinkingWhat is new from what we currently teach in our grade
level? What is NOT in the Common Core that we currently teach?*We
use more visual strategies and will need to incorporate mental
strategies. Concrete graphs*The terminology will change from
doubles to equal addends. Calendar work*An in-depth understanding
of place value representation Probability*Prove even and odd by
manipulating objects Patterns*Develop an even number equation that
has a even sum*Write an equation showing area of equal addends as a
foundations formultiplication. Number & Operations in Base
Ten*Understand a three numbers proper place value for each
digit.*Read, write and identify expanded form for numbers to
1000.*Look at regrouping as the addition of a digits value instead
of column addition. We plan to move the three digit chapters from
the end of the book to the firstgrading period. Once we have
completed 2 digit regrouping we will move to 3digit regrouping.
This is our attempt to begin to meet the new core standardsthat
focus heavily on place value.
