Expensive

It is cheaper to clean up the current polluting coal and gas

emissions than it is to invest in a whole new industry of solar power.

Page 3: Con Solar Argument

Weak In comparison with fossil fuels, sunlight is a weak

energy source because the radiation strength is "diluted"

by the time the rays reach earth

Page 4: Con Solar Argument

DirtyPhotovoltaic cells are made up of dangerous

heavy metals.

While solar panels are durable, they won’t last forever and will have to be disposed of.

They require tons of energy to make (energy that’s supplied via traditional methods like

coal) that offset any “savings” that are advertised to be expected.

The batteries to store energy for the nighttime are dangerous lead acid batteries.

Page 5: Con Solar Argument

UnreliableSunlight is not a constant on anyone area of the earth's

surface. Seasons and weather patterns modify the energy of

the sun. Therefore sunlight cannot be a reliable source of

electricity

Page 6: Con Solar Argument

SO ExpensiveThe average homeowner will

get a bill for thousands of dollars if solar panels are to

be installed. The cost is approximately equal to 10

years' electricity supply from current sources.

Page 7: Con Solar Argument

Impractical Current buildings are not well designed to accept large,

cumbersome solar panels. Flat-roofed buildings are ideal, yet, in snow countries, a flat roof is not an option for safety

reasons.

Siting of solar panels must maximize the position of the sun in the sky during daylight hours. They do not work at night.

Not all buildings can accommodate this requirement.

Where do you think the power to have moving solar panels comes from?

Page 8: Con Solar Argument

Exclusive Pollution, clouds, mist, fog

and the shade of trees reduce the efficiency of solar panels. That suggests that inner city

or industrial areas are not ideal for converting

solar energy; nor are mountain bushland retreats.

Solar farms?Solar power farms are not practical. They

do not service enough homes for the space they occupy. "EnergyAustralia has a 2.75

hectare solar farm (the size of about 5 football fields) at Singleton in NSW. It is the

largest of its type in the southern hemisphere and produces enough

electricity (400 kW) each year to power about 100 homes."

Nonsense

Solar energy simply cannot supply all regions of the world with such diverse climate and season

patterns.
