How Green Are We ?

Stockton … We are very green. We recycle using bags to put papers and magazines in and a box to put tins, glass and plastic bottles in. we also have other bins to put your clothes, shoes, and books in. There is a recycling van that comes round to collect your bins and plastic.

The Green bin recycling scheme was introduced in 2003/04. The scheme was expanded in 2008. Glass bottles, cans and plastic bottles can be placed mixed into the Green Bin for collection .There are also brown bins which are used for putting plants and flowers in. The brown bins are collected every 2 weeks.

Boxes

You get a blue box and a white bag delivered to your house. The blue box is used to collect tins and glass bottles. The bags are used to collect papers and cardboard. You could also put plastic and cans and textiles in these bins. Keep your recycling bin next to the main bin so you can take out the rubbish and recycling at the same time. Make recycling part of your weekly supermarket trip and "drop when you shop" at supermarket recycling centres. Some things need to be washed before you put them out for recycling - use your old washing up water to give them a quick rinse.
