PROMINENT HILL FACTS

• A workforce of approximately 1,200 – this includes

contractors.

• Growth due to underground.

• We have a local workforce – 80% of our people

are from South Australia.

• Open Pit – Thiess.

• Underground– Byrnecut Mining.

• Village Services – Sodexo.

• Charter Flight services from Adelaide,

Port Augusta, APY Lands and Melbourne.

• Daily bus service from Coober Pedy.

• Site Facilities – 1200 rooms with en-suites,

swimming pool, sports courts and gymnasium.

• Regular family days to bring family members to

site to experience life at Prominent Hill.

PROMINENT HILL PRODUCTION

Product: High grade (~50% Cu), high quality, copper concentrate.

Production (2011): 107,744t contained copper, 160,007oz gold.

Production Guidance (2012): Contained copper 100,000t to 110,000t

Contained gold 130,000oz to 150,000oz

Mine and Plant: Open pit mine, crush, grind, flotation.

Estimated C1 costs 2012: US$1.00-US$1.10/lb. (increased primarily as a result of underground mining)

Page 20: Dr Paul Heithersay- Resources & Energy Symposium 2012

UNDERGROUND DEVELOPMENT

• Underground achieved first production from

stoping Q1 2012.

• The underground will contribute 25,000

tonnes of copper and 12,000 ounces of gold

allowing current levels of production to be

maintained.

• The access decline, just over one kilometre

long, reached the Ankata orebody in mid

2011.

• 1.2Mt per year expected in 2012-2015.

• Average grade range for 2012 to be

2.3 - 2.8% copper.

TRANSPORT OF PROMINENT HILL COPPER CONCENTRATES

• Convenient access to the Adelaide to

Darwin railway.

• Shipments of concentrate from

Adelaide and Darwin ports.

• Rotainer handling system uses

specially designed containers.

• Enables us to bypass a concentrates

shed and traditional loading facilities.

• First copper concentrate shipment

using handling system was exported

from Adelaide in January 2012.

CARRAPATEENA WORKING WITH SOUTH AUSTRALIA

• A staged approach to

permitting will be required to

reach 2017/2018

development date.

• Continuous engagement

with DMITRE to streamline

permitting process.

• Good support from South

Australian government.
