Employee Engagement in Today’s Economic Environment Employee engagement is one of the most important concepts in human resources. Such engagement means that employees have a real commitment to the organization and its success. Obviously organizations with engaged employees will be more successful. Although employee engagement is always important, it is vital in today’s economic environment. To succeed and survive in today’s economy companies need employees who are willing to do what it takes. Unfortunately many companies don’t have this because they lack engaged employees. Engaged employees will work harder and do more for the company. This means that it is more important than ever for organizations to allocate money and resources to employee engagement efforts. Thinking that the workers will stay and work hard because they can’t find a job elsewhere will not produce the level of enthusiasm needed for success. Indeed, such a cynical stance will destroy employee engagement and morale. Fortunately there are many low cost employee engagement efforts a company can adopt.
