How To Check Your Yahoo E-MailBy The Numbers
1. Go to mail.yahoo.com
2. Enter your existing Yahoo ID and Password and click “SIGN IN”.
3. Yahoo Mail Classic's Welcome Page will load. Providing you access to your folders, messages, etc.
CHATTING ONTHE INTERNET
E-mails was considered as the most primary source of sending instant messages and but today it has expand to include internet chatting.
Internet chat provides a similar platform like SMS and the telephone communications.

Similar to word processing applications there are more similarities between chat clients then there are differences.
For this class we are going to discuss:Yahoo Web-MessengerYahoo Messenger (Local Client)
Yahoo ID And Chatting
Your Yahoo ID is just one way you are known on the internet, and without it you cannot chat.
To chat with Yahoo Messenger or Web-Messenger you must know your Yahoo ID and Password and be able to type the correctly.

1. Launch Yahoo Messenger or check the Notification Area to see if it is already running on the computer.

2. Enter you Yahoo ID and Password.
● If at a café be certain “Remember my ID and Password” is NOT checked.
3. When done SLC “SIGN-IN”.

SENDING / RECEIVING MESSAGE
Start A ChatBy The Numbers (1 of 2)
1. Within your contact list, double click on the person and a new Instant Message Window will open.

2. SLC within the 'Message Composition Space' and type your desired message.
3. (Optional) Format your message making use of the Formatting Toolbar.
4. Click on “SEND” or press “ENTER” to post your message to the other person.

Once you have started a chat, to send another message you repeat the steps over again and again.
1. Type your desired message.
2. (Optional) Format your message.
3. Click on press “ENTER” to post your message to the other person.
How To Read A MessageBy The Numbers
When a new message appears the following alerts will occur:
The 'Tab' the message is on will blink.
The computer may play a sound.
The Task Bar may blink. Simply return to the window and select
the blinking tab to read the message.

How To Send A 'Smiley'By The Numbers
1. Place your insertion cursor where you want the Smile Face to appear.
2. On the Formatting Toolbar select the appropriate smiley from the drop down menu.

to abbreviate common words, such as:

ADDING A CONTACT
Adding A Contact ~By The Numbers (1 of 2)
1. SLC on the + (plus) button in the Yahoo Messenger List.
2. Type the persons Yahoo ID and click NEXT.

3. Select which MESSENGER LIST they should appear in, or type a new name.
4. Type a short message to identify yourself. (Optional)
5. Click NEXT.
6. Wait then click FINISH

REQUESTED TOBE ADDED
Requested To Be Added
When a friend or family wants to add you they will send you a request, seeking your permission.
Without your permission they will NOT be able to see you when you are online.

When a request is sent the “ADD TO MESSENGER LIST REQUEST” dialogue box will appear.

Along with authorising or denying the request, you can choose to also add the person to your Yahoo Messenger List.

Signing - Out
Like all services on the internet you must Sign Out when you are done.
You MUST SIGN OUT before your time expires at the café.
Signing Out ~ By The Numbers
1. Go to the MESSENGER MENU on the Menu Bar.
2. SLC on SIGN OUT.
3. Answer YES to the confirmation dialogue box.
4. Wait for Yahoo Messenger to return to where yousign in again.

1. Go to webmessegner.yahoo.com
2. Click on “SIGN-IN”.

3. A 'Pop-Up' window will appear asking you to type you Yahoo ID and Password, when done SLC “SIGN-IN”.
3. The 'Pop-Up' window will close and your contact list will appear on the left.
