Instructions  Thanks for agreeing to do a trial for xx. This document contains everything you need to know in order to complete the 2 hour trial.   Choose a 2 hour time period to complete the trial and then work through the steps in this document. Please do not work on the site for more than 2 hours. Part of the trial is testing how you go at following instructions so it’s very important that you only spend 2 hours on the trial.  If you have any questions while completing the trial, please visit **** and use the live chat down the bottom right hand side to chat with us.   The trial site is ***** (logins further below)  Here are the instructions. Make sure no work is done until the site is backed up. If the site breaks then restore it to the previous version. If you can’t figure out a task then please please visit **** and use the live chat down the bottom right hand side to chat with us.  If we don’t respond immediately just make a note in the doc and move on.   Please make notes in your development notes document as you go, don’t leave them until the end.   When you have finished the 2 hours please email us back and let us know.   

1. Create a Google doc and share it with **** for the development notes. Please see the structure of the document below and make notes in the document with any changes that you made to the site. Make sure you specifically mention any file that is changed. Any plugin that is installed etc.  

2. Back up the site 3. If there are any themes or plugins or WordPress version requiring updating please 

update them and check nothing is broken on the front­end.  4. Down the bottom where it has ‘Categories’ in the black section, can you replace that with 

‘Contact’ and put a contact form in that emails ****. 5. I would like to have a favicon on the site can you please create one.  6. In the widgets in the footer, can you please make the entire black area, light grey and 

reduce the size of the fonts a tiny bit.  7. On the homepage blog post titles above, the line height of the blog post is squishy. 

Please fix the line height up. Here is what I mean 

 8. On the homepage where it lists the posts I’d like to list the total tweets and likes with a 

button similar to how they do it on http://blog.kissmetrics.com/   

 9. The main body part of the site (below the header opt in and the footer area) is white. This 

includes the main content area and the background behind the sidebar area (where the opt in box is). I think it would look better with white in the main section and a grey background bar all the way down the side like on http://blog.getvero.com/. Can you please do it like that? I want it to look nice and professional.  

10. On the homepage we have an optin form and there is a yellow button that says “SIGN ME UP!” Can you please change this to “GIMME THE HACKS”.  

11. The site is not mobile responsive. While we don’t have to make it fully mobile responsive, I do want to make 2 slight changes. First can you have it so it completely removes the top optin area on the homepage whenever you shrink down to tablet and mobile size. Second, please entirely remove the sidebar area as well. These areas will stay on the normal view but will be hidden on tablets and mobiles. So it should be impossible to replicate a scenario where you drag the browser down and it cuts off the sidebar and top opt in area. Here is a screenshot 

 

  

12. We have created a plugin called *** which you can find at ****. We would like to add a new column for LinkedIn Shares. I realize this is a tricky task. See how much of it you can get done. The first place to start would be to add the LinkedIn icon on the right and set it up to show and hide. Next step would be to look at how we can get the data in for the posts.
