apartments or housing properties in the city or town you are going.


















What should you look out for when viewing a property for rent? Most occupants can just cope

fine with the aesthetics of a place, but many seem to overlook other aspects such as security and safety. When we rent a property, we are also

paying for our security and safety. The neighbourhood we will move in is not like the one we have back home. Being not one of the locals,

we should make sure we are safe and secure among the locals of the place.


















In the search for the perfect place to live, how can you make sure you pick not a joke but a gem? To choose the right housing property to live, it takes time to view the

property and see for yourself how you would fit in.

Whether you’re buying or renting a place, you should try to view the property if you can spare some time. This I did when I was new in the city. I came from the outback and

moved into the city for work, and it did take me some time to select the right place because I did not just want to live

anywhere. Take your time to view the amenities, take a walk around the neighbourhood, survey the access to

services and ask questions.

If you are not confident to view on your own and you feel you need second opinion, why don’t let a friend or colleague tag along? They can help you know the place

better and notice any flaws which you may have missed. If you want to be careful, let your family and friends know where you are going and always bring

your mobile phone in case of emergency.

Always take your time when viewing a property and do not rush. Check the conditions and structures of the property. Are there loose slates on the roof or

tiles on the floor? Does the door creak loudly enough to disturb your sleep? Are there broken

window panes?

Are there leaking pipes in the kitchen or bathroom? If the place is in need of repairs, tell your landlord or real estate agent about this. Do

not considering purchasing or renting the property unless repairs are made.

grocery stores, schools or churches? Is it near heavy traffic highways or areas of frequent criminal

activity? You could never be safe and secure in areas that cannot guarantee you peace of mind so be mindful of this when you go property hunting.
