What’s Google Local Search

and why should you care?

Google Local Search literally puts you “on the map”

By registering your business with Google Local, you will rank higher in Google

You’ll also get a very prominent looking box on the right hand side of Google search

If someone is searching for a business in your industry and area, this big box pops up with your information in it.

One Possible Drawback

Local Search also adds you on to Google Maps (which is a good thing)

Google Maps is sometimes very vague with neighborhood boundaries

Your business can be “accidentally” put into the wrong neighborhood.

This may not be as desirable as your preferred neighborhood.

Make sure to double check this, and to be on the 100% safe side, do this:

Put your full address (including the name of your neighborhood) on your website

If possible, mention the neigborhood name once or twice on the main page

How to Make Sure You’re #1

for searchers in your local area

Being present on Local Search alone can easily bring you extra customers

The BIG benefit is being #1. And it’s usually not difficult to achieve.

Ranking means where (how high up) your listing is showing in relation to your

local competitors.

Ranking #1 compared to #4 can increase customer contacts by 28 times!

Above anything, Google determines your ranking based on the number and

quality of your customer reviews in Google Reviews paltform.

How to Increase User Reviews

for a higher Google Local Search ranking

Offer a small discount if someone leaves a review.

Don’t demand a review, or aim for 100% positive reviews.

Email your customer list and politely ask for reviews.

The sooner you do this after they purchase, the more likely they are to comply.

Interact positively with negative reviews.

Encourage a little dissent, and respond politely to the dissatisfied customer.

Use a Review Management Platform

Platforms like Optimum Feedback are inexpensive, but help you save a lot of time.
