History and development: The formerly known International Publishing Company was founded in the year 1963 this was due to the merging of the UK’s three leading publishing companies merging. These companies were named George Newnes, Odhams Press and Fleetway Publications. All three of these then joined with the Mirror Group to then form the international publishing company. Time warner then acquired IPC in 2001 and renamed it TimeIncUk in 2014.

Brand identity/ Target audience: The company TimeIncUk is a reality/living type brand. Producing magazines that entail categories such as homes, hobbies, fashion and music.

The target audience for this printing company seems to be an older generation with some of their publishing's being an exception for example the magazine NME would be for a younger audience

NME is a weekly publication from the company TimeIncUk. It costs around the price of £2.50. Listing this weekly means that they can get more music news out at a faster rate than they could if it was just published monthly. This means they will have a wide audience of people wanting to hear the latest story about their favourite bands. The plus side to this means that they will be able to sell more amounts of magazines than they would if they just focused on monthly publishing. This magazine doesn’t have a specific genre that I can tell of meaning it hasn’t cornered itself in the information that it can put out. This means they have an enormous audience that they can base there magazines towards.

The magazine uncut on the other hand is a monthly publication costing £4.80. This magazine focuses on an older type of music some examples of the artists they have featured include, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Jonny Cash, T.Rex and so on. This could mean that they are focusing on this one age range so that they have a loyal group of buyers that will continually buy the issue every month. The problem with this is they may start to lose interest in the magazine and eventually not want to buy it anymore. Although with this focus they could give very detailed information on the artists which they choose to cover on there issue giving the buyer the best value for money.

History and development: Future publishing is an international media group was founded in 1985 publishing only one magazine named Amstrad action. These were the first company to offer free software on the front of magazine covers.

Brand identity/Target audience: The future publishing company are a strong to media with the genre of magazines that they sell. They also sell automotive magazines, video game magazines and much more.

The audience that Future PLC seem to have is mostly male with there percentages of most of there magazines being high in the favor of male buyers/ readers. The average mean range varies from around 21 to 44. although some publishing's will have different reader stats towards age and gender.

History and development: The Bauer media group is one of Europe's leading media companies. They have been publishing for 138 years. The date that it all started is January 2 1875, when lithographer Ludolph Bauer founded a printing house for business cards. The business was passed down and developed through the ages leading to the company that we have now being lead by the 5th generation of there family.

Brand identity/Target Audience Bauer media group is a big publishing house having a large amount of magazines to choose from raging from music, to hobbies, sport and so on.

The audience that this publisher seems to be focusing on is an older audience with magazines such as Bird watching, Country Walking and Zoo. Although some magazines could pull in the younger teenage audience for example Kerrang and Match.

Company size: 300 magazines in 15 countries as well as online, TV and radio stations. The company employ around 6,400 people.

Kerrang much like NME is also a music magazine that publishes weekly. This means that the magazine is cheaper than a monthly publication would be costing only £2.20. The smaller price tag may bring in more customers than a monthly magazine that cost say double the price. The magazine Kerrang offer news on rock bands weekly which are shown on the cover for example one week it could be “Royal blood” and the next it could be “Paramore” this allows a diverse amount of information to be given out to the public at a steady rate. Along side the cover bands there will also be smaller articles filling up the weekly rock news.

The magazine Q is Bauer media groups monthly publication. This is the leading monthly music magazine. The cover price for this issue is £3.99. the plus side to having the monthly publication means that they will be able to fit more information in to this one magazine rather than cutting the information up over 4 separate weeks. This magazine seems to focus on the bigger named artists that people will have heard of some examples being, Adele, Eminem, Muse, Jay Z and Lana Del Ray. These artists are often a big name in music meaning the magazine will draw in a lot of customers who wouldn’t normally buy these types of magazines.
