Page 7: Intro to Ben&Andrew

At Ben&Andrew, we break these silos down

We know that strategy often takes so long that it’s soon out of date.

!We know that strategy usually gets left under a pile

of papers, unread, unloved and unimplemented. !

We know that strategy can often cost the earth.

Ben began his career as a political journalist during which time he worked on multiple news formats including the highly publicised launch of Sir David Frost’s current affairs programme on Al Jazeera International. After leaving journalism he pursued a career as an advertising and communications strategist working for some of London’s most innovative agencies and with leading global brands including Vodafone Global Group, Sony Europe, Channel 4 and BMW. Ben’s specific focus was on enabling his clients to make the most of the digital revolution to enhance their brand communications. Most recently Ben has led insight, creative strategy and innovation at the Nike Foundation, the corporate foundation of Nike Inc that focuses on empowering teenage girls who live in poverty around the world

Ben Gallagher Andrew Missingham

Beyond consultancy Andrew is Associate Director to Futurecity, the UK’s foremost cultural strategy agency, a contributor to Eye Magazine – the international review of graphic design, and a governor of London’s Contemporary Dance Trust. Andrew has travelled to 53 countries around the world and worked in 41 of them.

Run Dem Crew

Run Dem Crew is Nike's running reframe. It's running for a younger generation. It's street running for outsiders - who would never join a club. It started with just six people in a council flat (one founder was Ben&Andrew's Andrew Missingham) and is now over a thousand strong. Andrew was instrumental in its growth and keeping it on track.  !We created a compelling vision around which the community could grow. Run Dem Crew is now in its 13th season with branches in East and West London. Every season is sold-out and over-subscribed. !Nike said: Andrew is a great partner. There were many challenges along the way, but his creativity and tenacity meant the project had the soundest foundation. Andrew is a pleasure to work with. He has a fascinating mind and such varied experience which he brings to every project he works on.

Emerging Market Life-Hacks

Ben and Andrew worked with the Nike Foundation, the corporate foundation of Nike Inc., to explore how mobile phone access can transform girls lives for the better. !In Accra, Nairobi and Bangalore we recruited the most dynamic young creative upstarts to hack ideas that could not only deliver an impact for girls, but also give the upstarts new tools and approaches that they could use in their work on an ongoing basis. In each city we secured corporate partnership from a local TelCo (Vodafone, SafariCom and Airtel). !We repeated the hack at the mobile confestival MLove 2013 with our Ghanaian, Kenyan and Indian creative upstarts joining in by Google Hangout, to bring the developed and developing world together.  !Our work has created a community of activists, united over seven countries in three continents - and the Foundation's first spontaneous, self-sustaining Facebook group.
