SCA Tissue’s Tork® Intuition™ II and its retrofit panel option will be showcased at SCA Tissue’s BSCAI booth No. 1011 in Nashville, TN, on March 24-28. McCarran International Airport, the sixth busiest in the nation with more than 41 million passengers last year, is nearly finished installing about 1,000 touch-free Tork Intuition II dispensers in its 150 pub- lic and private restrooms. The installation includes 300 dispensers being retrofitted into recessed panels in addition to those being mounted on flat walls. "We always have had a goal of moving to a totally hands-free washroom environ- ment," said Bob Hurd, custodial superin- tendent at McCarran International Airport. "We needed a touch-free dis- penser to replace the crank-style dis- pensers, and it had to fit into the existing recessed panels." SCA Tissue designed a solution specifi- cally for McCarran’s needs — a heavy gauge stainless steel filler panel that allows the Tork Intuition II to be retrofit- ted into existing Bobrick recessed dis- penser cabinets (Bobrick models B-3944, B-3961 and B-43944) for ADA compli- ance, without having to remove the entire stainless steel unit. "That means the hygiene and cost-sav- ing advantages of SCA Tissue’s touch- free dispensing system can be easily applied to many restroom situations,” said Leo Tieman, SCA Tissue senior product manager — washroom. Restroom hygiene and reduction of cross-contamination are major issues at McCarran International Airport, which experiences more than 237,000 uses per day of its public restrooms by visitors from all over the world, Hurd said. Usage control and cost savings also are critical to Hurd, who oversees the maintenance of restrooms that accommodate up to 1,500 people every eight hours. The Tork Intuition II answers both the hygiene and usage concerns. A patented microchip sensor automatically detects the presence of a hand and delivers one towel at a time, ensuring that patrons touch only the towel they will use. The dispenser’s distinctive sleek design keeps towels completely enclosed until needed, conforming to HACCP guidelines. The dispenser also features an adjustable towel length of 8 to 47 inches, an adjustable time delay of 1 to 5 seconds, and a stub roll compartment that enables complete use of rolls. The result is more precise control of consumption and sub- stantial reductions in supply waste and labor for refills. "The Tork Intuition II can be installed in a wide range of options, including mount- ing directly to a wall, installing within a recessed wall opening, or retrofitting into a stainless steel recessed towel cabinet," said Tieman. "This versatility makes it ideal for use in office buildings, health- care facilities and foodservice environ- ments. "The Tork Intuition II is compatible with a full range of towels, from natural to our newly launched Tork Plus cloth-like towel, which incorporates increased softness, bulk and absorben- cy," Tieman added. Both the touchless Tork Intuition II and the mechanical Tork Matic II use the same towels. That means a mix of mechanical and electronic touch- free dispensers req- uires stocking only one paper SKU, sav- ing storage space. The SCA Tissue booth at BSCAI will feature its total Tork washroom solution line of products. In addition to Tork Intuition II and Tork Matic II, SCA’s total Tork washroom solution includes a com- plete and versatile line of towels, bath tis- sues and hand soap. The Tork Xpress Portable towel dis- penser, for instance, provides countertop towel dispensing in a versatile dispenser. The Xpress Portable uses Tork’s unique folded towel system that ensures the pres- entation of only one towel at a time, min- imizing the risk of cross-contamination and reducing waste and refilling expenses. Tork bath tissues and hand soap round out the washroom products line with qual- ity Tork solutions for every situation and budget.
