What is NATA?

• NATA: National Aptitude Test in Architecture • National stage exam for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture (B.Arch) • NATA is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) which is a body of Council of Architecture,New Delhi. • NATA is without doubt the most significant and mandatory exam for architecture aspirants.

Eligibility?

The Candidates should have passed class 12th with Mathematics as a subject or done diploma from a recognised institute/university/board with at least 50% aggregate marks in l2th/diploma. OR The Candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma having 50% aggregate marks and Maths as a subject can also apply.

How to apply?1. Purchase NATA Registration form by payment of NATA fees of Rs. 1000.00 vide bank challan at selected branches of “ICICI Bank”.2. Fill up the Registration form and procure the necessary registration documents.3. Select a Test Center (from the website http://www.nata.in) at a location convenient to the candidate.4. Approach the Test Center with the filled up form and the documents.5. Select convenient date for appearing for NATA6. Request Test Center to register the candidate on the selected date.7. Procure Receipt cum Appointment voucher from the Test center8. Appear for NATA on the registered date

When to appear for NATA?

• NATA can be given on any working day from 20th March 2013 onwards till further notice at designated Test Centers.

How to appear for NATA?

• Report to the test center at least 30 minutes before scheduled time of test with Receipt cum Appointment voucher, valid photo ID and drawing material required for the test.

• Test Center personnel will guide you regarding the further process.

When and where is the Score card available?

• The score cards will be available on NATA website in e-format, usually, on the fourth working day after the test.

What is the passing score at NATA?

• As per Council of Architecture regulations, a candidate applying to any school / college of architecture in India should have achieved 40% score in NATA, i.e. at least 80/200, for consideration of admission into first year B.Arch.

Where can a candidate seek admission on the basis of NATA?

• A candidate may apply for admission to any of the participating institutions as per the time schedule specified by the respective appropriate admission authority, along with all the documents desired by it.

NATA EXAMS• NATA Drawing Test - 2 hours• 2 papers -100 marks each• To be given on the same day• No choice of Questions

What comes in Nata Question paper:

• 2 D compositions with the help of the Basic forms of geometry and colour schemes

• 3D compositions of various objects with the effect of light and shade .• Memory Drawing of day today life with help of free hand sketches as well as with

one point and 2 Point perspective method.•

• There is no Negative marking in this test.• NO REVALUATION IS POSSIBLE FOR EITHER OF THE TESTS

The Aptitude Test in Architecture shall consist of

2 papers: (3 hours duration) Test- I - Aesthetic Sensitivity is to evaluate

candidate’s perception, imagination and observation; creativity and communication; and Architectural awareness. The test shall be of objective type and comprise of topics related to,(i)Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.(ii) Visualizing different sides of three dimensional object.(iii) Analytical Reasoning.(iv) Mental Ability.(v) Imaginative comprehension and expression.(vi) Architectural awareness.

• Test- II - The Drawing aptitude of the candidate shall be judged on the following aspects:(i)ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.(ii) Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on the surroundings.(iii) Sense of perspective drawing.(iv) Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes or forms.(v) Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition.(vi) Understanding of scale and sense of proportion (vii) Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on theme from day to day experiences.
