Buildings use about 40% of the total energy consumed in the U.S. each year. This adversely affects the environment and a building’s market value while sending operational costs soaring. That’s why sustainable, energy-efficient buildings are more attractive and are in demand for buyers as well as tenants.

McKenney’s works closely with building owners and operators to recommend environmentally responsible strategies that can reduce a building’s energy consumption.

More importantly, we are there when you need us.

The integration of our energy-saving recommendations can happen at any stage of a facility’s life cycle, allowing you to maximize resources, preserve the environment and protect your bottom line.

McKenney’s team of professionals uses its extensive knowledge of mechanical systems to recommend strategic, comprehensive system upgrades. We leverage all of our organization’s capabilities to find innovative, high quality mechanical system solutions that offer exceptional value and meet your specific requirements. You invested in us. In turn, we’ll help you make investments in your facility that pay off too.

Whether its HVAC, controls, lighting, security or safety, every building system is intended to meet your exacting specifications and expectations. To achieve the optimal energy efficiency for your building systems, McKenney’s Energy Services applies a time-tested evaluation and remediation process—retro-commissioning.

Our retro-commissioning analysis, recommendations and integration can restore installed mechanical systems to peak performance.

The engagement includes a proven four-step process that helps you quickly recoup the cost of your retro-commissioning investment via energy savings.

Facility assessment: Data from your utility bills are compiled by McKenney’s and benchmarked against peer facilities using an ENERGY STAR® audit to assess your site’s energy performance.

Comprehensive analysis: Diagnostic monitoring and testing, energy modeling and field measurements of mechanical systems performance are some of the techniques utilized to make energy-saving recommendations. The McKenney’s Energy Services team will also present a detailed cost and financial analysis.

Implementation: McKenney’s leverages the expertise of its diverse organization and comprehensive knowledge of your building’s lifecycle to implement improvements without compromising your building operations.

Continuous commissioning: Your systems never stop working—neither do we. Regularly scheduled maintenance and evaluation of systems operations keep your facility operating at peak condition. Performance of your facility is recommended to be verified on an ongoing basis through the application of temporary or permanent high-quality monitoring and metering systems.

Investing in sustainable and energy-efficient building practices has a proven track record of delivering operational savings that pay for themselves quickly. In a 2009 study, researchers found commercial building price premiums of 10 percent and 31 percent, respectively, for ENERGY STAR and LEED®-certified buildings.* As a result, it’s critical to partner with an experienced organization that ensures proven green building practices are employed at all times.

LEED® certification: Our team of nearly 50 LEED Accredited Professionals uses exact processes—adhering to the internationally recognized green building certification system—to help ensure that your building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions are sustainable for you and for the environment.

McKenney’s environmental sustainability building support includes:

ENERGY STAR® certification: McKenney’s is able to support your ENERGY STAR certification initiatives by evaluating your existing facility and recommending the appropriate measures to help you meet or exceed your facility’s ratings goals.

Strategic partnerships and turnkey solutions: McKenney’s Energy Services goes beyond the support of your core building systems. We also offer turnkey environmental services, such as rainwater harvesting and condensate harvesting systems, and have established partnerships with other building solutions providers to deliver renewable energy and water purification alternatives.
