Task five: Genre conventions

Alice Mutch

Sitcoms- Conventions The program is recorded in different sets, each

with a live audience. The sets are usually the same in every program.

A catchy theme tune starts the program, usually a catch song or tune.

The same actors are used in every episode, apart from random characters, this helps scenes build up a story.

Miranda

The set Recorded in the BBC’s recording studio, with the main sets

as her apartment, the joke shop and the café.

The sets are very casual and middle classed, as well colourful which shows her personality in her apartment.

The live audience sits behind the camera, unseen to the people watching tv.

Signature Music The music at the start of the program usually

comes after the introduction to the program.

Pictures of Miranda growing up are shown as she holds them up to the camera, a picture at a time during the music.

The music is only played at the start of the program.

LogoThere’s nothing special about the logo for Miranda, just that the writing is untidy, this could symbolize that her life is not perfect, and she doesn’t try nor want her life to be perfect.
