Industry Developments based on the Interviews
• Consumers are willing to integrate their own content and lifestyle from their smart devices to their vehicles.
• ‘Bring your own device' logic is taking over also in automotive.
• Drivers have everything they need in the cloud including maps and music. They want a technology enabling them to use the content in the car.
• As the capability of smart devices continues to increase, it is becoming inevitable that smartphone and mobile device integration in vehicles will be necessary.
Industry Developments based on the Interviews
• The vehicles are turning into services
– Today's urban youth and digital natives do not necessarily desire to own a car, as the car does not fit into their persona and lifestyle.
– This will drive the need to develop solutions enabling car sharing and car rental in urban environments.
– The car is changing from a technological object towards an enabler of a travel experience
• The advanced use of telematics will bring new ways to utilize the technology
– Possible future solutions include usage-based services; e.g. car insurance

• All of the interviewed vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 players
have expressed their interest towards innovative Finnish
solutions.
• They work in collaboration with automotive equipment
manufacturers, telecom operators, internet giants, technology
providers, research institutes, universities and start-ups
-> Finnish SME’s size is not a barrier for cooperation
