MRPL – An Introduction

Founded as Joint sector refinery by HPCL and A.V.Birla group in 1987

Located at the west coast of Karnataka, Close to Middle East and Far East crude and product markets

Installed capacity 9.69 MMTPA Revised to 11.82 MMTPA• Phase 1:4.82(3.69) MMTPA,commissioned in 1996.• Phase 2:7.00(6.00) MMTPA, commissioned in 1999.

performance in refining of petroleum in India during the year 2009-10. This recognizes leading Performance in production and operational efficiency in refining operations, while meeting the norms of health safety and environmental protection.

2. Oil Industry Safety directorate ranks MRPL as 1st in “Most consistent safety performer in Refineries” for the year 2009-10

3. Company has achieved the “Excellent” Target (Composite score 1.04) against the MOU Targets set with Government of India for the year 2009-10 & 10-11

4. Adjudged as Second best in ‘Excellence in Energy Management’ –2010 under Refinery category instituted by the CHT.

5. ICRA and CRISIL reaffirmed Issuer rating of “Ir AAA” and ‘Cr AAA’ to MRPL for lowest credit risk.

6. Best Exporter Award (Gold) – 2010 for exporting products through NMPT, by Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industries.

• After ONGC takeover (2003), MRPL increased its focused on direct Marketing and expanded its share of Business particularly Bitumen.

• MRPL direct Marketing turnover in 2010-11 stood at about Rs 2,291Crores.

• MRPL commenced ATF marketing in 2008 through its JV. ATF Sales in FY 2010-11 have gone up to 77 TMT up 23 % over preceding year sales of 54 TMT.

• MRPL successfully introduced new products in Market such as Mixed Xylene and CRMB.

• MRPL has Licecnce to open 500 Retail outlets. Continued under recovery in Retailing, MRPL adopted cautious approach in opening new Retail outlet.

• Miniscule presence in Retail Outlet business : thereby not burden with under recoveries.
