IntroductionThe Canadian Freestyle Ski Association is introducing a new membership fee structure beginning on June 1, 2011.

The new structure is aligned with the CFSA’s Long Term Athlete Development Model and will simplify the licensing process.

New athlete license levels have been introduced based on the CFSA’s flagship program CAN Freestyle.

The following presentation outlines the changes made to the CFSA membership system and the new CFSA fees. Your Provincial Sport Organization may charge extra for some license levels; the PSO portion of the fees is not included in this presentation.

Registration for the 2011-2012 season opens on June 1, 2011. Visit www.freestyleski.com to register.

Why are we making changes?Align the CFSA membership categories and events with LTAD principles and the CFSA LTAD Model through CAN Freestyle.

Align membership categories with level of events.

Create a uniform membership price across the country for athletes at the Fundamentals, Learn-to-Train and Train-to-Train stages in order to better promote our CAN Free Programs (applies to all PSOs except Quebec).

Reduce the number of membership categories.

Reduce the frequency of upgrades.

Standardizing Pricing for CAN Free 1&2 and CAN Free 3The CFSA is recommending nation-wide standardized pricing for license levels CAN Free 1&2 and CAN Free 3:

Allows for stronger centralized marketing and support to clubs (eg: Operating agreements, promotional materials, CFSA membership support to clubs).

Allows for consistency from season to season for long term relationship building with clubs.

Stops stacking of extra fees and last minute fee changes.

Drives predictable revenue into PSO’s and CFSA to build capacity.

Allows CFSA to continue collecting PSO revenues while maintaining a consistently defensible fee structure.

Will not apply to Quebec

Considerations for Can Free 1&2 and Can Free 3 license feesThe new fees have been established based on extensive dialogue with clubs and PSO’s and the CFSA’s current rates.

CFSA set these fees with great consideration to creating growth, sustainability and delivery of quality programming – it is a cornerstone of the Can Free LTAD Implementation

There is no extra cost to the club to participate in RBC Jumps & Bumps or the Freestylerz programs.

The CFSA fee includes liability insurance, program materials, access to the CFSA coach training system, and administrative support to the clubs.
