Supporting ChildLine’s work

A fear of struggling for words or of not being believed should not stop a child from speaking out. When a child does speak out, ChildLine can be a source of comfort when there’s no one else to listen. Matt called us when he was 11 years old:

“I was being bullied, I felt isolated and I couldn’t stop crying. ChildLine took me seriously, they didn’t judge me and they didn’t tell me what to do. ChildLine reassured me and made me feel stronger.”

Speaking out can be one of the hardest decisions for a young person to make. We want to make sure that when they do, there is someone to listen. Money raised during the first year of the Child’s Voice Appeal has helped us to increase the number of counsellors at our ChildLine bases, but we still urgently need to recruit and train more.

You would be helping to raise a minimum of £1,600

This is the cost of recruiting and training a volunteer ChildLine counsellor who could go on to answer around 200 cries for help each year from children like Matt.

Please sign up to the NSPCC’s 1600 Club - south east

You and your clients, customers or members could make a valuable contribution towards changing a vulnerable child’s life.

We believe that with our help, most businesses, clubs or organisations can raise the £1,600 needed to recruit a vital new counsellor.

Fundraising together can provide a real morale boost for colleagues and can help teams bond. By helping one of the UK’s best-known charities that is supported by millions, you will also build profile and receive recognition.

The NSPCC

We’re here to end cruelty to children in the UK by fighting for their rights, listening to them, helping them when they need us and making them safe.

As well as ChildLine (0800 1111), we provide the NSPCC Helpline (0808 800 5000) for adults with concerns about a child. Our local services focus on the most acute forms of abuse and the most vulnerable, highest risk children.

We’d like to invite you to join the 1600 Club – south east
