1. Invest in state-of-the-art test, and monitoring hardware & software (=start up R&D infrastructure)
(Local companies lack access to test infrastructure and datasets to support and accelerate their innovation process)
2. Cluster academic wind energy research projects (Maximize the potential covered by local academia)

Large cold climate chamber
Unique test infrastructure in EU !
Focus: accelerated lifetime testing /cold starts
Max dimensions test object : 10m x 8m x 7m
Max weight test object: 150 tons
Temperature range: -60°C +60°C Integrated 1,4 MW drive & high power supply
Location: Port of Antwerp (Churchill dock: breakbulk terminal)

At this moment Belwind already cooperates with OWI for astructural health monitoring measurement campaign, with veryinteresting results. It is inspiring to see how all involved partnerscan benefit from such knowledge build-up: Belwind and theirsuppliers to learn about the behavior and performance of their windturbines, OWI in the fact that they get access to a real offshore windfarm environment.
