Nancy Duarte:The Secret Structure of Great Talks

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO

An Idea

A single idea from the human mind can change the world

But, an Idea is powerless…If it stays with you, and isn’t communicated

How do we effectively communicate an Idea?

Resonate…

For change to happen, the Idea must resonate with the audience

Express your ideas as a StoryTo invoke emotional and physical

response from the audience

Follow a Structure

Aristotle suggested…

The Audience is your Hero……You are Yoda, not Luke

If people resist your Idea, you must sail through it like a boat sailing against the wind…

Stories have a shape…

But what shape does a presentation have?

Effective presentations take the audience through a story…Alternating between what is, and the Idea of what could be

And finally, leave the audience with a ‘call to action’ to your Idea…
