AUTUMN

When it begins

• It begins around the 23 of September.

Why does it get colder

• The earth axis* is tilted by 23.5d. The earth moves round the sun. The suns rays are further away from the earth in autumn.

• *The axis is the line that connects the north pole to the south pole.

Why do fruit ripen in autumn?

• It ripens because it is the end of the sunshine.

Why do the leaves change colour

Because the chlorophyll* goes away.

• *Chlorophyll is what makes leaves green.

Why some leaves are green and some are brown

• The brown leaves are made from the wastes. The red leaves are made from the glucose still trapped in the leaves.
