Our SolutionSection B10
Our SolutionWe can make use of vertical greens effectively such that the area will be cooler.11
Method / ProcedureBuy the plants.Install the wire and attach the plants on it, so that they can creep upwards.Daily watering and care is required.12
Timeline of Events13
Proposed solutions for pigeon holes at study area (I)Demolish the pigeon holes for easier maintenance of the green wall.
Keep the pigeon holes and use ladders when trimming the plants.14
Proposed solutions for pigeon holes at study area (ii)Move the pigeon holes in order to make space. Areas we can put the pigeon holes:
Outside the staff rooms on the form of racksInside the staff roomsOutside the general office15
Advantages (I)1) The area will be cooler since the green wall will block out the sunlight and provide shade.16
Advantages (II)2) The school is able to have a more eco-friendly image, contributing to the Green Lotus Award, which we havereceived since 20.17
Advantages (III)3) The students are able to better concentrate on their studies during the times they spend studying/consulting the teachers at the area.18
Advantages (IV)4) Some significant impact on the student's psychological mindset when seeing the plants, exp :19Improve well-beingIncrease attentivenessImprove perceptions of the spaceRaise productivity and ability to think quickly during lessonsSource : http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/urban-mindfulness/200903/plants-make-you-feel-better
Disadvantages (I)1) There is less ventilation since the area will be blocked by the green walls although air is still able to flow through the two ends.20
Disadvantages (II)2) Maintenance is required since the creeper cannot grow all alone.21
Disadvantages (III)3) There is less light as the green wall will block out sunlight.22
