Camcorder and Tripod

The camcorder was used to record the audience profiling of the Voxpox. However, the camcorder was mainly used to record and capture footage that we needed for our music video. High resolution cameras were necessary as the music video needed to look professional.

The tripod was an important tool for our production in order for us to shoot from different angles. We were able to move in different directions smoothly instead of holding the camera by hand. There were no shaky shots or framing issues in the production that can ruin our video shots.

Camera

The camera was an important tool in our ancillary tasks as the photos were needed for the performer to be on the designs. We needed concentration when doing different angles of the artist, such as close ups, medium close ups, medium shots and low angle shots.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word was used for writing our research on existing music videos, for an existing music artist and also for writing about the specific artist that we used. Microsoft word was used as a rough tool to make sure that there were no mistakes before I copied and pasted to Blogger.

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint was used (like Microsoft Word) to write our planning. For example, what equipment we needed, the clothing that we needed our artist to wear, the area where we filmed the music video and even additional people that we used for our music video. Using PowerPoint is effective as we can put the presentation onto Divshare.com and this will allow the website to convert the presentation into a slideshow, ready to be uploaded onto Blogger.

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop was vital towards the ancillary tasks. We were required to make a CD cover, back CD cover, promotional poster and inlay cards. Using Photoshop allowed us to transform various images into designs that would be useful in promoting the artist’s album and endorsing his identity to the target audience.

Photoshop was effective when airbrushing the artist, tweaking brightness and contrast of the artist and putting mist effects as well.

Adobe Premiere

Adobe Premiere Pro was a vital piece of technology. This software enabled us to successfully produce the music video. It helped us to add visual effects towards the footage that would allow us to create the music video and make it as appealing as possible. Furthermore, Premiere allowed us to edit the interviews that we had with other people to create a Voxpox.

Dafont.com

Dafont.com is a website used to download various different fonts. There weren't enough suitable font styles available on Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft word. I used this website to download two certain fonts that were suitable for the ancillary tasks such as the artist’s name, title and information on the promotional poster.

Youtube

Youtube played a major role in our production especially in my research. It was used to analyse different existing music videos in order to familiarise myself with different conventions used. I also used the website to find ideas for our music video. Furthermore, I used Youtube to watch Photoshop tutorials.

Blogger

Blogger was used to blog and record any progress made with our media production. This allowed for easy organisation and tracking upon the developments, advancements and growth of our work. It was useful so that I knew where I was at any given moment and what my next task was to be. Without websites such as these I would have found it difficult to keep track of our work.

Page 11: Question 4

Divshare

Divshare allowed me to transfer presentations onto the internet and therefore render it capable of being transferred onto our blogs. This allowed me to present the slideshows in an efficient and more effective manner. Without this I would not have been able to present my development work and my research work on the slideshows that were made to explain what I did when producing work such as the ancillary tasks.

USB

The USB was the most important piece of technology used. It allowed me to store all types of constructional and contributing work towards the media productions. It also allowed me to transfer items such as designs and research that would benefit our group as a whole. It allowed me to share it amongst the group and vice-versa as well. It also enabled me to store the track on a mobile phone. This helped our group to constantly play the song in order for our performer to lip sync proficiently. Furthermore, it enabled us to transfer the track officially onto our music video on Adobe Premiere Pro. The track played clearly and was synchronised with all the edited footage.
