PublicRelationsOne thing we love more than chocolate is reading. Books, magazines, newspapers, the back of a cereal box...you name it, we read it. Unfortunately for us that can lead to a cluttered desk piled high with aforementioned magazines, newspapers and from time to time, cereal boxes! But fortunately for you, it also means that we know exactly what it is that journalists and editors are looking for and can produce quality press releases and copy that are sure to generate interest.

Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Your usual get-up-and-go attitude hits a snag this week, as yourun into an obstacle you don’t think you canmove. But that’s not like you. Before youknow it you’ll have things in hand and onceagain you’ll find yourself on the other side ofa problem. You’ll not fret long over a brokendate when you discover what was behind thecancellation. Your sunny disposition gets anadditional boost from someone who’sadmired you from a distance.

Taurus (Apr21/May21) You’d be better offputting your passions into a pet projectrather than brooding over a setback.Working on something you love takes allyour focus and concentration and the nextthing you know you’ll be wrapped up in allthe praise you’ll receive for youraccomplishment. A congenial person isinstrumental in helping you get somewhereyou want to go.

Gemini (May22/Jun21) When a discussionwith a friend starts to get heated, you’d bewise to stop talking and start listening.Somewhere along the line you missed whatthis person was trying to say. Once they seethat you’re paying attention and want to helpthem deal with their issues, all will be well.Together you’ll come up with a workableplan and a stronger bond.

Cancer (Jun22/Jul23) Happily, you’re moreinclined towards improving your home thantowards catching your 15 minutes of fame. While you focus on finding furniture or smallitems to spruce up your décor, a friend isflirting with getting noticed by the media.Your job will be to have a safety net readywhen things don’t play out the way yourfriend hopes. A temporary inconvenience orsetback is unsettling, but you handle it nicelyby making the most of the extra time you’regiven.

Leo (Jul24/Aug23) You’re in a reasonablygood position to bargain for something youwant now. The main problem seems to bedeciding exactly what you want to offerbefore you start negotiating. Give this somethought and you’ll realise you already havesomething you’re eager to be rid of. With thatin play, everyone wins, so what could bebetter? When a passing flirtation capturesyour interest you’ll be on your way to anexciting adventure and the possibility of amore long-term relationship.

Virgo (Aug24/Sep23) Although you’vemore than a few frustrations to deal with, don’t take them out on the people aroundyou. You can become quite a pain insituations like this, so stop before it gets tothat point. Choose one trusted friend to talkto and get your problems aired. You’ll feelbetter and they’ll have a solid understandingof what’s bothering you. You will get friendlysupport from a surprising source later in theweek when someone who’s been away comesback to town.

Libra (Sep24/Oct23) Although you start outfeeling feisty and argumentative, by the endof the week you’ll have returned to beingyour normal congenial and amenable self. Aday out or a get-together with friends andrelatives will bring special pleasure to allconcerned. Just taking a day out from yournormal routine is refreshing enough. Don’tget so swept up in the moment that you losecontrol of your purse or wallet. You can havefun and stay on budget too.

Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) It’s not like you tolose your cool, but something’s simmering atthe moment that could push you over theedge. Take a moment to collect yourselfbefore you get pulled into a confrontation.Whether a carefully constructed plan fellthrough or a friend let you down, it’s not theend of the world. You recover from whateversetback stronger than before and full of newideas. An unexpected invitation takes yourmind off less interesting routines.

Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) You’ll be doinga balancing act this week and walking thefine line between over-indulgence andthinking you don’t have enough. It can be ablurry place, but you’ve the good sense toknow how much you can comfortably spendwithout putting yourself in debt. When indoubt imagine how you’ll feel when the billarrives. If the idea scares you, you’ll knowwhat to do. An energy boost at the week’sstart means you’ll get a lot done with littlestress.

Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) You’ll be buzzingwith exciting ideas about a new project whenyou visit a DIY shop or come upon acatalogue. Figure out what you’ll need toacquire if you decide to jump in with bothfeet and also do your sums and work out ifyou can afford it. Can you borrow or barterfor some of the things that seem out of reach?Look up a friend who’s been plodding along.Being out of touch for too long is unkind. You’re just the person to give them a lift.

Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Have you heardthe call of the great outdoors? Do you have afriend who’s been waiting to spend time withyou? Take care of both of these by planning aspur of the moment outing or get-together.You’ll have fun catching up on all their newswhile you see some sights. A downheartedrelative needs a boost. Plan something youcan do together that you know will appeal tothem even if it isn’t your cup of tea. They’llappreciate your thoughtfulness.

Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) You may feelweighed down by a friend who talks toomuch or who just doesn’t get your drift whenyou talk. Some communication gaps can’t beeasily bridged, so you could decide to spendless time together. There’s no need for badfeelings about this. If you get on each other’snerves, you’re better off apart. A sensiblelevel of physical activity is good for you. Adaily walk may be all you need to keep yourmind fresh and your body tuned.

I THINK the fashion houses will have to readjust theirseasons to accommodate our erratic weather. With lighterpockets, tighter budgets and fresh memories of summerdownpours we just aren’t willing to splurge on strappy topsand sleeveless dresses for what might turn out to be a one-day sun event.

There are plenty of women that are quite happy to keeptheir arms under wraps, no matter how hot it gets. In manycases, sleeveless should come with a warning sign.Depending on the cut, even the slimmest of arms can appearpinched or squeezed. Irish women’s upper arms aren’t usedto be being out on their own that much either and they canbe prone to blotchiness, dry patches and generally notlooking too ab fab.

We obsess about keeping our tummy tucked into placebut very often a smooth stomach is let down by flabby andflappy arms. While I’m a firm believer in adding somebottled glow to arms when they are about to go on publicdisplay, there’s a nifty solution that will allow you to getmore wear out of your sleeveless shift dresses or put thedress you would buy if it had sleeves into your shoppingbasket.

It’s no surprise that Canopi was designed in Ireland. It’s asimple and seamless elegant solution that attaches to yourbra and comes in two fabrics, microfibre and mesh and inbasic colours such as black, white, grey, navy and cream.

The Canopi sleeves will help boost your confidence andgive new life to your existing wardrobe. RRP €39.95 Canopiis available in Brown Thomas, Galway.

WE live in hope that we’ll be able toflash our toes over the comingmonths, at least once. Summershoes can tend to make our toescurl though as we squish them intotight peep toes, cut between themwith unforgiving flip-flops andleave them screeching in silence aswe toddle about in strappy stilettosandals.

Thankfully comfy shoes don’tjust resemble slouchy Uggs andtheir various copy-cat styles. I’m abig believer in the wedge forheight, style and wearability butI’ve also been swayed by niftyhidden platforms and cushionedsoles.

I once associated Ecco shoes withsqueaky, thick matronly-like solesthat may have been super soft towalk on all day long but failed toput any twinkle in your toes. NowEcco has plenty of stylish offeringsand we’ve picked out threepossibilities for summer staplesthis season.

The Ecco range is stocked atPat Lane Shoes, Tuam.
