Silk Kaftans

In most of the civilizations, the kaftans showed the status of

the wearer. Even precious silk kaftans were considered as gift

items to various dignitaries and friends of kings. In later

years, the merchants and peasants started wearing it. Though

the wearers changed, the style remained similar for a number

of years. The fabric with which these dresses were made also

changed depending on the status of the wearer.
