Whaling threatens the already endangered whale population of the world

Australia has around 30 species of whales that can become extinct

5 whale species, the Humpback, Blue, Fin, Sei and southern right whales are considered to be threatened species. The blue, humpback , sie and fin whales are fully protected by the IWC ( International Whaling Commission)

Whale meat is bad for humans and can makes us sick

It is part of the Japanese culture They like sea food The sale price of whale meat has dropped

significantly since 1999 from about $15 a pound to $12

In Japan, whale burgers are as cheap as $3.00 and people continue to eat them.

The Australian government must act to stop the Japanese from whaling for so called “scientific reasons”. The government has not done enough to stop this massacre but instead the hard work has been left for the anti-whaling organisation that operate around the world. These organisations will need all the support they can get to maximise their effort in saving whales.

The damage caused to the whale population must be undone. For this to happen, whaling must be ceased immediately. It will take a long time for the recovery of the whale populations but its better than nothing.

The government of Australia should work cooperatively with the anti-whaling organisations for any real effect to take place. Simply telling the Japanese to not kill whales has not worked in the past and could continue to fail in the future.

Greenpeace is an independent organisation that works for the conservation and protection of the environment. They have set many campaigns to help and protect the world we live in, including protecting our plant and animal lives.

The Sea Shepherd conservation society has acted to save our whales with ‘Operation Musashi. They use the Steve Irwin to intercept Japanese Whalers and prevent them from causing any harm.
