Work carried out by O’Brien Skanska’s were the PFI contractor for the £350 million project rebuilding Coventry Hospital. O’Brien Contractors were employed to carry out the substructures and drainage works to the main building.
The drainage scheme which involved over five kilometres drainage also required the installation of a 25,000 litre attenuation tank some 12m below ground level.
With the assistance of their specialist sub contractor, O’Briens successfully carried out this work over a four week period. Particular attention had to be paid to temporary works design and safe working systems, which involved considerable collaboration with Skanska and their design consultants.
Despite dealing with some poor ground conditions, O’Brien Contractors successfully completed this project on time and within budget.
