Unique New Zealand Ingredients Launching at SupplySide West

The people of New Zealand are renowned for their pioneering spirit with Everest conqueror,

Sir Edmund Hillary, and Ernest Rutherford, Nobel Prize winner and first to split the atom,

among the country’s world famous citizens.

This pioneering ‘Kiwi’ spirit will be showcased at SupplySide West with five unique

ingredients set for launch into North America. These include:

New Zealand Cassis – Just the Berries is one of the world’s most trusted suppliers of

Cassis (blackcurrant) based nutraceutical health ingredients. After successfully

penetrating the strict nutraceutical markets of Japan and Europe, Just the Berries is

launching New Zealand Cassis into America.

High Antioxidant, Fruit/Berry Blend – NZ Extracts is the only company in the world

employing a unique extraction technology - the Aqua-Pure® system - that uses only

water throughout the process. The company will reveal its new product, Oxifend® Plus,

which is a synergistic blend of four fruits and berries, with 25% higher antioxidant levels

than the sum of the individual fruits.

Immune Defense Proteins from Milk– Quantec will introduce a novel milk fraction,

comprised of native immune defense proteins (IDPTM

) with proven anti-microbial, anti-

inflammatory and immune modulating properties. IDPTM

can be used in a variety of

applications in the nutraceutical sector such as oral care products and supplements.

Calcium MCHA for Liquid Suspension – Waitaki Biosciences utilises ingredient processing

techniques which maintain the natural bioactive properties of the raw materials. Its new

Calcium Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite is ideal for use in liquid-based products.

Lipid Stabilised Greenshell™ Mussel Powder– Also being launched by Waitaki

Biosciences. The company has developed a proprietary antioxidant blend and novel

application technique that stabilises the lipid structure of this raw material – halving the

rate of oxidation.

Just the Berries, NZ Extracts and Waitaki Biosciences will all have additional ingredients on

display.

Two New Zealand companies are also testing the market with ingredients set for launch in

2010.

Resveratrol and Hair Restoration Products - Anagenix will be researching the market in

regards to its unique resveratrol product with improved bioavailability. It is also meeting

with potential customers interested in the company’s natural hair restoration

technology.

Natural Oral Care Preventer - BLIS Technologies is meeting with potential customers in

regards to its natural, healthy bacterium that protects the mouth teeth and gums.

Ingredient suppliers attending the show also have the opportunity to penetrate the New

Zealand market - RMF Nutraceuticals is prospecting for innovative ingredients to present to
