TD APACJ family is made up of individuals of different ethnicity and cultures. Let’s take a quick look at each unique culture and festivals.

JapanFestivals are often based around one event, with food stalls, entertainment, and carnival games to keep people entertained. Some are based around temples or shrines, others “hanabi” (fireworks).

Some examples of festivals are namely Snow Festival, Cherry Blossom Festival, and Lantern Festival. There is even a Doll Festival whereby families pray for the well-being of the ir girls, and young girls wear their prettiest kimonos and visit friends’ homes.

Matsu-san’s family watching fireworks at a summer festival in North Japan. His adorable nieceis wearing a traditional summer wear called “Yukata”. (Matsu-san is not in the picture as he is

ChinaChinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most elaborate festival, to celebrate the new year of the Chinese calendar. Oranges are given out as a symbol of good luck, hongbaos are given to children, and lion dance performances will be seen. “Yusheng,” a salad of shredded vegetables with fish, is tossed for prosperity and abundance.

Eid is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It is a huge celebration in countries such as UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Rice dumplings called “ketupat“ Diyana’s family celebrating Eid in green. is eaten with traditional side dishes.

Message From The Vice President

If anyone in Tandberg Asia has ever received an email from Sherry in accounts, you may have noticed that her sign off on every mail is "with smile".

I like this sign off as it reminds me that I too should do things with a smile. A smile is more than the look on our face, it is the feeling that comes with it that is important. If we do things and feel happy when we do, then that feeling rubs off on those around us, and cooperation and collaboration becomes easier.

Whether we are customer facing or our roles are internal, I think if we all try to follow Sherry’s example, we will find those who we come into contact with are likely to want to do more to help us!

You will notice a lot of change in our team at the moment, some old faces continue to move on and new faces are joining us. This is a time of transition for Tandberg in Asia, we are making changes and will continue to do so, ultimately we are aiming to make things better. With the influx of new people, we have the opportunity for new thoughts and ideas to further improve our business. So anyone with ideas for how we can make Tandberg Asia a better a more successful place to work, please feel free to email me.

Message From The Vice President

Finally, I always like to advise everyone to get the balance between their personal and private lives right. Last week it was difficult for me to get that balance right, as I needed to away on business when I would have liked to have been at home for my sons first day of a new school. However as you will see from the picture below, he was able to get his revenge on me when I returned home!!

Me in Hong Kong for a business trip.
