We al l know that driving on Rt. 29 is not fun...
Particularly during rush hour.
Morning: 7am – 9am
Lunch: 12pm – 2pm

What if we told you that there was a solution?
A solution that was developed by Albemarle,
Charlottesvil le, and VDOT...
together.
“Places 29”:
The Six Fixes
1) Improve the stretch between
Hydraulic Rd & the 250
Bypass by adding lanes &
improving the on ramp
2) Complete the Hil lsdrive
extension to take about 10,000 –
15,000 vehicles of f of Rt. 29
between Hydraulic & Rio
3) Extend Berkmar Drive with
a bridge to take about 20,000
vehicles of f 29 between Rio and
Airport Rd
4) Improve the oh-so-stressful
Rio Rd intersection with an
overpass to al low traf fic to move
more easily and ef ficiently
5) And the other crazy
intersection @ Hydraulic? Let’s
improve it with an overpass as
wel l
6) Widen the section of Rt. 29
after Hol lymead Town Center
to fix the bottle neck,
& improve the intersection at
Ashwood Blvd
The Six Fixes =
A Rt. 29 that moves.
This means drivers wil l be less stressed -- pedestrians and cyclists wil l be safer and less
frightened.
This means happier people.
BUT...
These sustainable solutions are at risk due to
The Western Bypass.
The Western Bypass: (AKA: The Road to Nowhere)The highly inef fective, tiny bypass
that wil l do nothing to bring sustainable improvements to local traf fic
on Rt. 29. A wasteful project that VDOT gave an F, and that
wil l cost approximately $250,000,000 of tax payers’ money, while
doing more harm than good to the local community .
If the Western Bypass is built,
almost al l of the six fixes
wil l not happen.
This doesn’t have to be the case.
There is stil l time for you to let our elected of ficials
know that you do not want your money spent on a
Road to Nowhere.
