Top Answers to Develop Winning Content

There are four foolproof ways to be your audience’s best answer. The first step when you want to connect to others is that you always need to know your audience. You must listen to what they want, to what they need, and always know what it is.Here are four essential steps to creating content that will be the best answer for your intended audience.

Step 1

For decades, magazine covers and many millions of worldwide publications follow the same script: People want to learn how to do whatever it is they do better, faster, more often and more easily. The same applies to your content creation.

Finding out what your audience wants to do (and wants to do better) is the KEY to getting your content not only read, but thought about as well as shared. When you become the one whose advice they follow, you have found the KEY to being a thought leader, a genuine guru in whatever your audience is looking for.

Step 2

The second big content attention-grabber for you is content that’s tied in to other things that are going on in today’s world. The best and most obvious example of these tie-ins is for you to work a connection between your content and a holiday. And if there isn’t a holiday coming around the corner, why not just make one up? It’s your chance to inject a little humor and creativity when you are making connections with your marketing.

Don’t stop at holidays though. Use the news, at least when it’s positive and not some tragedy that will put your audience in a bad mood. Use a local event or celebration. They can work extremely well for locally-based businesses. Tie-ins are especially great tools when they are relevant to your audience, just perfect for seizing attention. The only thing is to make sure the content you create is equally riveting!

Step 3

Often the most compelling content embraces all media, including sound, video andgraphics. The more different touch points you create, the more people you are going to reach. Present webinars you think will be useful to your audience, or put together helpful e-books, even record a podcast or two, but always remember that the fastest growing search engine isn’t Google anymore, it’s YouTube.

Step 4

Follow social media’s golden rule that advises you to get people involved. Tap where your prospects and customers, or clients, hang out, and make sure you’re present there as well. Make them laugh, or offer trivia, and be sure to send them reminders. All of this is great content that begs your audience to share it with others. Publishing blogs and engaging segments of your customer base within that content is also a good idea. Write newsletters, but make sure your forwarding-to-a-friend technology isn’t turned off.
