Wide Range of Solution Offerings“TSC today is culminated from an integration of several unique entities over the years; from a company like Ansell Jones Ltd which has history dating back from 1845, specializing in mooring and lifting equipment for the offshore and nuclear industry to the most recent called Alliance Offshore which offers integrated solutions. Within this history we have a successful track record in

delivering a wide range of drilling packages, customized solutions for rig mechanization, electrical controls, solids controls, jacking systems and deck cranes. We have a good rapport with a wide range of customers for both land drilling and offshore operations.

“Some of them want automations and mechanizations for safety reasons, while some want to increase their capacity or high specification equipment on new rigs” says Zhang. “We designed, built and delivered six drilling packages now operating on jack-up rigs and a wide range of equipment on board fixed and floating platforms. In 2011, we completed delivery of two sets of special purpose cranes now operating on the SFC and SFB Statoil production platforms in the North Sea, as well as many others purpose built equipment for rigs. We did some upgrades in Brazil, including one of the previous Petrobras semisubmersible rigs, P13, now called Olinda Star owned by QGOG. We have also completed several upgrades for equipment on Transocean drillships, including the Deepwater Pathfinder, Deepwater Frontier and Deepwater Millenium. We also upgraded a lot of older

land rigs in China. Also, some of the older rigs call for more handling capacity for heavier BOP stacks because of new requirements after the Macondo accident, so in addition to new equipment and packages, we have done a variety of upgrades.”

Expansion in Emerging Markets“In the oil and gas industry there’s a tremendous challenge that is the mature onshore field,” says Zhang, explaining that finding a lucrative area to drill today often requires stepping far outside your comfort zone. “You have to go to a harsh environments, deeper oceans or unconventional onshore locations – These can be very costly and you cannot just rely on old technology to provide new and innovative solutions.”

In this environment, TSC is exploring the relatively untapped potential of new or still emerging oil and gas markets. “Our focus on the basics of delivering high quality state-of-the-art products while carving out a niche in new or emerging markets,” says Zhang. “Because we’ve been in Houston for many years we have access to new technology, which can be

applied to new fields such as the Middle East, Central and South America and even here in North America. Of course, Russia’s also an emerging market that is graduating into a major market. We feel that there’s a lot of opportunity there – same thing for China and also for West Africa.”

“Our company philosophy is to address a customer’s particular need and provide a tailor-made integrated solution instead of just selling equipment,” says Zhang. “That’s really what TSC is about, and also we focus our resources to address that. myself – he is chairman, I work as CEO,” explains Zhang. “His background is drilling. Bing started 40 years ago as a roughneck, moved up to rig manager, and then got his MBA at the University of Dallas and we founded the business in 1995. I also started many years ago in 1982 as a drilling engineer, working in China for five years and then in Alaska for three years before moving to Houston. Since then we’ve been associated with all

things related to drilling for offshore and onshore rigs.”
