SUSTAINABILITY: from Concepts to Action
Visual Report to Toyota Fund for Europe
by Umanotera, The Slovenian Foundation for Sustainable DevelopmentMarch 2013
What does “Sustainability” really mean?
Problem definition
• Since 1990’s the terms “sustainable development”and “sustainability” have become widely used, often abused and misused, and are rarely properly defined or understood.
• We have observed a growing demand for a clear and easily understood conceptual framework of “sustainability”: what it means, what are its basic principles and rules, how can we apply it to our daily lives and professional roles.
Project objectives
• to raise awareness about the urgent need for changing the course
• to introduce the concept of “sustainability” in a simple, visual way, relevant for our lives
• to motivate people to change
