Concept and planning

In construction projects crucial

decisions are made long before

the fi rst blueprint is drawn. During

the concept and planning phase

we support investors, developers

and construction service providers

in starting on the right course

by providing system solution

alternatives. With the provision of

preliminary estimates of investment

and running costs we create a

reliable fi nancial basis for the

project. Our services include

supporting the selection of trained

and qualifi ed designers, ensuring

high quality results. We also support

effective marketing towards the

end-users of a planned building.

Bangkok Airport

The airport has been designed

and planned by German-American

architect Helmut Jahn and is regarded

as a masterpiece of engineering. The

main building is the 444m long and

111m wide characteristic central

concourse with its steel work roof.

Providing a comfortable indoor

climate was particularly challenging

because of the demanding climatic

conditions. Uponor underfl oor

cooling provided an effi cient

solution to this prestigious project.

Design

Proceeding from concept to

construction, design has to cope

with all the details and complexity

of modern construction techniques.

In addition to specialised know-

how, effi cient computer based tools

are essential for this task. Design

professionals benefi t from our

training, design examples and

design tools for heating and cool-

ing, plumbing and infrastructure

solutions.

The Copenhagen Opera House

The Copenhagen Opera House by architect Henning Larsen is a new

landmark in the city. The foyer of the Opera House hosts 1,400 guests.

It is equipped with an Uponor radiant heating and cooling system, ensuring

a pleasant indoor environment both during the cold winters and warm

summers of Scandinavia. Altogether 18,000 metres of pipe were installed

in the foyer.

Construction

Construction is about translating

plans into reality. Delivery, logistics,

products and installation effi ciency

become essential. We are renowned

worldwide for the quality and

installa bility of our products. Addi-

tionally, our installer training creates

the basis for fast and reliable instal-

lations. For construction service

providers we offer assistance in

the planning and coordination of

delivery and logistics in order to

eliminate problems with the

construction process. We ensure

the quality of the installation work

through continuous technical

support and fi nal verifi cation of

the installation.

The Manchester NV Buildings

The NV Buildings in Salford Quays,

Manchester, are Countryside

Properties‘ homage to modern

living. The three stunning towers

represent one of the most advanced

buildings in Great Britain. Uponor’s

installation is a futuristic plumbing

system with state-of-the–art

manifold plumbing techniques and

risers, allowing each plumbed-in

appliance to be individually isolated

so that the supply can be switched

off if needed.

Buildings in use

At the end of construction the

utilisation of a building begins –

an important interface including the

fi nal approval of construction work

and laying the foundations for

effi cient operation and mainte-

nance. At the commissioning stage

we support our partners in verifying

the desired performance of our

systems. Full and accurate fi nal

system documentation is always

made available to the client. Our

training enables building manage-

ment professionals to ensure

smooth and trouble-free operation.

eventual refurbishment – not just

today and tomorrow but through

the whole life cycle of a building.

Concord Pacifi c Place

Development, Vancouver

The buildings, which contain over

300 units each, are plumbed with over

36,000 metres of Uponor tubing. Using

fl exible PEX tubing eliminates joints

within the slab and cuts installation

time by approximately 50% when

compared with copper.

Water in the Vancouver area can

be acidic and can eat away copper

pipe over time. Uponor’s solution

resists aggressive water and soils,

making it much more reliable in

Vancouver‘s plumbing

systems.

The World Water Week in Stockholm,

taking place annually in August, is the

leading annual global meeting place for

capacity building, partnership building

and follow-up on the implementation of

international processes and programmes

in water and development.

Uponor is proud to be one of the

founder companies of the Stockholm

Water Prize. This award is presented

during the World Water Week to an

individual, institution or organisation
