• Conduct an inventory count of assets

• Affix barcode or RFID labels to assets

• Reconcile Fixed Asset Register– Identify; Additions, Updates/Changes, Deltas (missing items)

• Asset Appraisal/Valuation

• Implement tools and processes needed to effectively track and manage assets upon completion of inventory count– Asset Management Software– Barcode/RFID Systems

• Implement a process to track additions, moves, and disposals

– Conduct Periodic Cycle Inventory Counts

• What is in scope?

– Capital Assets

– Non-capital, but are;

• Susceptible to being misplaced or stolen due to size and/or portability• IT Assets- need to be supported and refreshed, contain sensitive data• Owned or funded by a 3rd party and therefore are required to be

accounted for– Items purchased from grants, leases, on loan, etc.

• Required for organization to function

– Inventory personnel split into teams and disperse as dictated by the project schedule• Teams are responsible for completing the inventory

count in their designated areas

– Teams work progressively through each floor/building when possible

– Data is captured using mobile computers and customizable software• Collected in accordance with requirements from plan

and stored in handheld

– Asset tags are affixed to items during inventory

– Data is synched and reviewed at logical intervals each day
