INTRODUCTION

Water purification is a process of removing undesirable chemicals, materials, and biological contaminants from contaminated water. The goal is to produce water fit for a specific purpose.

Types of water purifiers….

A.) Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purifiers

B.) Ultraviolet (UV) Water Purifiers

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purifiers………

Reverse osmosis, also known as hyper filtration, is the finest filtration available today. It is the most common treatment technology used by premium bottled water companies. It is effective in eliminating a very wide variety of contaminants from contaminated water.

The pores in a reverse osmosis membrane are only approximately 0.0005 micron in size. Reverse osmosis systems vary in membrane quality, output capacity, and storage capacity.

How it Works…..

Ultraviolet (UV) Water PurifiersUltraviolet water purification

lamps produce ultraviolet radiation of much greater intensity than sunlight. Most ultraviolet purification systems are combined with various forms of filtration, as UV light is only capable of killing micro organisms such as bacteria, viruses, molds, algae, yeast.

UV light generally has no impact on chlorine, heavy metals, and other chemical contaminants. Nevertheless, it is probably the most cost effective and efficient technology available to homeowners to eliminate a wide range of biological contaminants from their water supply.

Page 10: Water Purifier

How it Works……Ultraviolet purification uses a UV

light lamp. The lamp is mounted such that water passing through a flow chamber is exposed to the UV-C light rays. When harmful microbes are exposed to the UV rays they are destroyed.

Objectives of the research….To understand the purchase

decision of consumers regarding water purifier.

To measure the customer acceptability for water purifier.

To know the features they used to change or include in their water purifier.

Customer expectations with respect to several factors that they look into while buying water purifier.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGYResearch methodology is a way

to systematically solve the research problem. It may be understood as a science of studying how research is done systematically.

Page 13: Water Purifier

Scope of the study:-The area of survey for this research project is restricted to Ludhiana City.

Research Design:- The conceptual structure, within which this research is conducted, is descriptive in nature.

Page 14: Water Purifier

Sources of data collection:-Secondary data sources:-The

data is collected from secondary sources like newspapers, magazines, journals and various web-sites.

Sample size:- The sample size drawn for the research is 10 dealers and 100 consumers and the scope is limited to Ludhiana District only.
