Mobile Advertising to Determine Profit Rates of Big CompaniesPerhaps, it’s the stagnating economy. Perhaps, it’s the change in the way the people use their mobile phones. Either
way, Wesley Yuhn & Media Oasis reminds it’s clients that “telling people who are on the phone a block away
from your store to shop online is a good way to lose potential customers.”
According to an article in the New York Times on November 3rd, consumers now spend 25% of their time on their
smartphone – not including the time that they spend talking to someone. Compare that to 2012 when people only
spent 14% of their time on their phones and you’ll understand why mobile ads are more important today than they
were even 6-months ago.
As per Wesley Yuhn of Tampa, mobile advertising is an essential tool for local businesses whether they are B2B,
service providers or retail oriented. The fact is that small, local businesses are the calvary leading the charge in
ways to use the internet to compete against the Colossus corporations. Local enterprises using mobile ads has once
again led the way to success demonstrating to companies around the world just how important smartphone contacts
really are – and Google confirms it.
Walmart and Target have managed to see the light and are reporting that to exceed profit estimations by the end of
2014, mobile advertising will be a major key to that success.
Major hotel chains in cities such as New York and Chicago are utilizing mobile ads to secure reservations for new
clients rather than investing more money in sites such as Travel Advisor that have been the mainstay for the past
four years for customer growth.
People get off the plane and search for hotels in the area of the city where they will be working. That’s when an ad
for a hotel room outfitted with a click-2-call service pops into their screen and their reservation is booked.
Wesley Yuhn of Tampa shares that in the last three quarters, Google’s desktop pay-per-click ads have been on a
downward trend according to a spokesman for the search engine giant. Furthermore, the spokesperson said that
“mobile is the primary culprit” for the changes.
When Google’s profits are affected by advertising on mobile devices (which happens to be one of their particular
specialties!) and Wesley Yuhn & ACHDP are sounding the alarm to his clients, it’s apparent that businesses
ignoring the needs of customers using mobile could be left out in the cold in their end-of-year profit margins.
