IPC Media are one of the UK’s biggest magazine distributers and they claim to reach

100 million people doing print alone.

Their website boasts that they reach 14 million people.

They produce over 60 different media brands, including the extremely successful NME.

WHAT THEY DO

They inform people about the different medias that they publish and provide their audiences with brand profiling, such as their audience,

genre, layout and style.

This is important for potential people that want their magazine distributed because they are

able to discover what types of publishing this magazine deals with.

BAUER MEDIA GROUP

This group are the world’s largest privately owned media group and produces different

magazines in over 15 different countries.

They have an estimated turn over of approximately 15 billions Euros making them one of the most successful publishing groups

of all time.

They produce magazines such as Q and Kerrang.

PUBLISH MY MAGAZINE

I think that the publishing group that is most likely to publish my magazine is Bauer Media. This is due to the fact that NME is extremely

similar, in terms of genre and audience banding, to my own magazine and therefore

it would be difficult for IPC Media to segregate the time spent promoting two magazines that have relatively the same

purposes and ideas.

OTHER PUBLISHERS

Other magazine publishers include Natmags and Emap however they are more concerned with “glossy” female magazines. This would

not be suitable for my magazine because it is aimed at grungy, young, indie males.
